Infield Redevelopment
Daytona International Speedway LLC
Daytona Beach, Florida

Daytona International Speedway, DIS, needed to undertake a number of projects to upgrade the infield of the track infield. Faced with years of disruption to its’ operations and wishing to make a major impact, DIS required a solution that would deliver the renovations in a single program between the Pepsi 400 in July and The Daytona 500 the following February.

From the initial discussions Haskell delivered a design-build solution in twelve months, and was ready for the start of Speedweek and the Rolex 24 Hr.

Included in the program were:

  • A 520 feet long vehicle tunnel under Turn One
  • A Premium RV area and Clubhouse created from the infill of 13-acres of Lake Lloyd
  • A completely new garage area containing 100,000 s.f. of new buildings
  • The Daytona 500 Club Corporate Facility and Victory Circle
  • A world first “Fan Zone” entertainment area of 200,000 s.f. of landscaped grounds, rooftop viewing and driver access
  • Three “state-of-the-art” 150 feet tall scoring towers and video board structures

Designed, permitted, constructed and occupied on time and on budget despite three hurricanes, the project is the recipient of three National Design and Construction Awards of Excellence.
