Scenario:  Retired Naval Officers located a 100-acre site for a retirement community for retired military officers and spouses near the Atlantic Ocean in Atlantic Beach, Florida. 


Solution:  HASKELL was engaged to master plan the 100-acre site and asked to solve the dilemma of the stone quarry.  The Board wanted to create a lake so they could offer boating to their residents.  HASKELL devised a way to convert the stone quarry into a lake for that purpose.  Today, the campus offers 320 homes and apartments for independent living and a 68-bed health center housing both assisted living and skilled nursing.   


Outcome:  This Community has been named one of one of the best lifecare communities in the nation by “The 50 Best Retirement Communities in America”. Admiral Joseph L.
