In an effort to provide additional parking for Tampa General Hospital employees and others seeking parking space on Davis Island, the City of Tampa awarded a contract to The Haskell Company to design and build an eight-level addition to an existing parking structure. The extension provided 850-spaces.

Also included in the contract was the creation of a public park to be shared by the hospital, day care center, the Ronald McDonald House, the residential neighborhood, employees of the adjacent Hillsborough Community College Administrative Headquarters and the public at large. The landscaped park with its winding paths serves as the glue that cements the project together.
