Wolfson Children’s Hospital
Baptist Health Systems
Jacksonville, Florida
The tertiary care pediatrics hospital built at Baptist Medical Center was the culmination of years of planning for a new center which serves as the nucleus of a regional pediatric health care consortium.
Value engineering played an important role in the cost efficient delivery of this 92-bed, 206,000 s.f. facility. Elevated walkways and underground connectors join every children’s hospital department to central services and administration at Baptist Medical Center. These connectors saved $20 million in construction costs and continue to save Baptist Medical Center $3.5 million in annual operation and staffing costs.
