When the 1929 vintage West Volusia Courthouse could no longer meet the demands of a safe and efficient justice center the county selected Haskell to manage the construction of a new complex rather than renovate the existing.

Designed by Vitetta Architects, the four-story, 243,000 s.f., center features chambers for ten judges, offices for the state attorney, public defender and clerk of the courts; space for administration personnel, Sheriff’s Office, and other court supported operations.

In addition a separate parking structure was built to accommodate 550 vehicles, with secure access for judges.

Built as a mixture of cast-in-place and precast the exterior facade features cast stone and brick.
